We spotted this restaurant because it was opposite Ying Yang, and we’re so glad we did! Equally delicious Thai food. Ying Yang is known as one of the best places to eat Thai food on Koh Tao, and often has queues out the front at dinner time! The dishes are seriously good! We particularly loved their veggie curries (the tofu Massaman is incredible) and Pad See Ew. Vegan Quesadillas at The Factory Cafe Coconut MonkeyĪnother cafe/restaurant in Koh Tao which does really amazing vegetarian and vegan food! This one is set right on the beach, does great coffee and smoothies, and is a great place to hang out! Amazing food at Coconut Monkey Ying Yang It’s also a really cool cafe, and a great place to hang out or get on with any work you need to.įood wise, we were obsessed the quesadillas, and also the vegan frappes! But all of the other food on the menu looks great, so I doubt you can go wrong with anything. We had to put The Factory at the top of our list of the best places to eat in Koh Tao, because we ended up eating here a lot! The Factory Cafe is entirely vegetarian/vegan and the food is seriously incredible. Best Restaurants in Koh Tao The Factory Cafe Here is our pick of the best restaurants in Koh Tao. One of the great things about Koh Tao’s popularity is it means it has some of the best places to eat! From amazing authentic Thai restaurants, to trendy health restaurants, Koh Tao has something to suit everyone. If you're anywhere near this restaurant or willing to drive an extra KM to find this place, please do.Koh Tao is one of our favourite Thai islands. For desert we ordered the brownie (which I am OBLIGATED to recommend) and it arrived while it was just hot enough to eat and experience the full flavour. Even though the restaurant was completely full and there was a line out on the street, the staff and kitchen managed to handle the great income of orders and new customers. We have tasted some very nice dishes during our holiday in Thailand and this restaurant is among the top five, definitely. Both dishes were amazingly prepared and tasted heavenly. The waiters speak perfect English and can explain any dish if necessary. About an hour in the restaurant was filled to the brim! Which only makes the place more cozy/fun if you ask me. After ordering our food the restaurant started to fill gradually. Me and my girlfriend arrived rather early (we had quite a long day and were really tired so we opted for an early dinner) which was a good decision. There are so many better places in Koh Tao. I found the place quite depressing in terms of location, atmosphere, service and food. He proceeded to chat up two very young European women nearby ("I can't believe you don't have a boyfriend") with consummate sleaze. Then an older, European man arrived who was welcomed with much fanfare by the staff. My stir-fry was barely cooked and offered a series of raw vegetables, no discernible sauce or flavour, no tofu (which was requested & offered on the menu) but a few cashew nuts as per the name of the dish. The menu offered us a range of vegetarian dishes but upon ordering, we were advised that a number of them were pre-prepared with fish sauce (which we don't eat). Several dogs roamed the tables, who were generally friendly except for the poodle (whose ears and tail curiously appeared to have been dyed red) who occasionally barked anxiously in a shrill manner at the traffic. What we found was a gloomy, dusty, road-side establishment with no views of anything but the passing traffic. We were told that this was one of the best restaurants on Koh Tao according to Trip Advisor: great food & great menu, including for vegetarians.
